The Children
If you're a regular reader,
you've noticed my absence lately. To be honest with you, it's not the page
position issue that kept me away. Even though everyone agrees that burying
me way down here is a travesty.
No, I just wasn't pissed
off enough. Now I am. It's time to put an end to the number one danger
to our children. We've been working hard as a nation to eliminate hazards,
look at child-proof safety caps, child car seats, and new, belated trigger
lock laws. But what about the prevailing menace that threatens our country
from it's very core: Murderous Parents.
It makes me sick to my stomach
to learn of some of these monsters. Parents have been killing their children
in increasing numbers, and increasingly innovative ways lately. Take the
situation of Abigail Caliboso, 19, and Jose Ocampo, 18. They were the not
so proud parents of a lovely full-tern baby girl. Maybe it was their youth
and inexperience, maybe it was the numbing influence of TV and violence...maybe
they just didn't give a damn. The result is their baby is now dead.
She was found by a construction
worker drowned in a porta-toilet. It's still not certain the baby died
in there, but since it was full-term, the chances are good she did. The
model parents have been charged with manslaughter and second-degree conspiracy.
Weak response from the DA, if you ask me.
And speaking of monsters,
how about the inhuman father who killed his infant son by slamming his
head into the pavement...and then used the baby's body as a weapon. An
officer was injured when he was struck in the head by the flying body.
We've all hear of cases of prison justice, where the inmates punish perpetrators
of escpecially heinous crimes...let's hope the word gets out about this
sonofabitch.
Some states are taking notice
of this problem. And now two of them have provisions where a mother may
leave an unwanted baby at a hospital, no questions asked. It's legal abandonment,
it's selfish, and it's cruel...but it's a hell of a lot better than killing. |
