That's Racism. I
was watching MTV when a promo for a voting apathy program came on.
The narrator intoned words along the lines of "Why aren't you being represented?"
While the video showed what may have been a politician with the words "80
percent of Congress is White Male" superimposed over his face.
The irony here is that the announcer, or should I
say "denouncer" was white. Thus, with the assumption that the audience
is not being properly represented by white guys, why didn't MTV get a Black
female, or transexual Asian to do the voiceover?
Because they were mindlessly mouthing the slogans
of modern racial attitudes. The pervasiveness of new racism is simply
amazing.
New racism if you don't know, is the instututionalized
bashing of white males. Plainly and simply, it is now perfectly acceptable
to malign any white male simply due to his sex and ethnicity. That
is sexism, and racism, but since it's New Racism, it persists.
In the media, in large corporations, in politics,
white males are under official, wide open attack. The reason can
be traced to the fact that this group, more than any other in the history
of the planet, continues to be the dominant factor in Engineering, Science,
Business, Medicine, Religion, Government, and many more areas that are
responsible for your exceptional standard of living.
Unfortunately, this is a group that in the past has
tended to try to hold onto power by supressing others. I admit that.
The sins of the past were despicable. The lynchings, the segregation,
the police brutality, inexcusable. That's why these practices have
been outlawed, and discarded. I am a white male, and to be honest
with you, I am disturbed when I study the history of racial inequities.
But those were acts of a different time and conciousness, many generations
removed from today.
America has not always been a benevolent, friendly
place. Many people of many races were brought to these shores in
bondage. It was an accepted practice in most parts of the world at
that time. They were dangerous times for everyone, with an average
life expectancy of about 45 years for men, 41 for women.
A couple of hundred years pass, and our country struggles
to shed it's outdated attitudes, and embrace racial equality. It's
the law, and as far as I can see, it's a good law. Unfortunately,
most people think of it as only a law AGAINST white males. It's a
law that also includes this terrible but necessary portion of our population.
If discrimination occurs due to someone's race or
sex, the Popular Wisdom assumes a white male is the perpetrator, when in
reality, they've now become the new nigger. |
