Bitter Pill
A dark side exists in all
of us. I don't care who you are, where you are from, what religion you
may be, or even how you were raised. Most people manage to hide or least
suppress their dark side. I myself, have a name for mine, I call
her my evil twin! She pops out when someone crosses that fine line
and makes me mad.
My vision blurs, heart rate
does double time, and my teeth are clenched so tight, my jaw hurts! This
is where self control comes in. Being able to talk myself down, before
I say or do something very stupid. For other people though, once the line
is crossed, they cannot control their anger. Lashing out either verbally
or physically, the consequences are painful for both sides.
You cannot take back what
you have said or done, and regret floods you to the very core. You are
mad at yourself, but pride often stands in the way of apologizing. Many
marriages and relationships get torn apart because of this burst of anger
and pride. Admitting you were wrong can be like swallowing an enormous
bitter pill, but in the end, it can save a lot of pain.
Being able to control ones
self before that dark side pops out, is the key to not having to apologize
in the first place. So many marriages, families, and friendships would
be saved if we could all learn self control. As far as my evil twin goes,
well, she has her moments, and comes out before I can stop her. But, I
have learned to apologize when she is wrong. I really hate having to swallow
that bitter pill!
