If There Is a God, Would
I Like Him?

order to offend as many people as I can with a single column, today I’ll
share the Changer’s thoughts on religion. Notice these are my THOUGHTS
about religion, not my religious beliefs. Bear in mind that one of the
defining characteristics of faith is that it isn’t something scientific
or logical. |

We can’t prove that an omnipotent,
omniscient being watches over us and controls the Universe, and, if our
faith is strong enough, we won’t need science to prove it to ourselves.
I guess the simplest way
to express this is to say that I hope God (as He is usually defined) doesn’t
exist. Don’t worry, I’ll explain. Take a look around you. How many truly
good people do you know? I can count on one hand the people I’ve met who
are generally kind-hearted and compassionate. Most days, I’m not one of
them. If there is a God, and he created us in his own image, as the Bible
claims, then what does make him?
Let’s take a look at his
"creation", our own species. Let’s take a look at the statistics from the
last Changerland Census. I have listed the "seven deadly sins" below and
the percentage of the changed or changing who epitomize each.
Anger 70%
Greed 80%
Lust 98%
Envy 87%
Sloth 30%
Pride 75%
Gluttony 64%
As you can tell, most the
people I associate with are ambitious, greedy, lustful, angry, proud, envious
gluttons. And they wonder why I turn them gay. I will be using these statistics
in my next column "Do we really NEED to procreate?" so feel free to email
me with suggestions on a more accurate representation of our society.
Back to God. OK, if we consider
that man was created in God’s own image, and he created an ambitious, greedy,
lustful, angry proud, envious glutton, then what does that say about the
creator? Logically, I can’t find a reason to believe in someone who allowed
our species to turn out like this.
