Big Government
The US is a Nation divided,
as the count goes on to determine who the next President is going to be,
I want to reflect on the term "Big Government". It seems that
the concept of what 'Big Government' consists of, depends upon which
party is using the term.
To the Republicans, "Big
Government" means too many regulations
imposed on corporations,
labor laws, civil rights laws, environmental
laws and consumer laws.
Too many programs such as Social Security, Education, Health Care and Housing.
Too many environmental regulations. Too much interference in corporate
matters such as safety in the work place, civil rights, human rights and
consumer protection laws.
The Democrats concept of
"Big Government" represents all the red tape that citizens must wade
through in order to receive any government entitlements or benefits from
the various programs available, The staggering defense budgets and
the massive corporate welfare funding, The FBI and the DEA peering into
every bedroom and listening in on every private conversation. Surveillance
equipment used for the express purpose of spying on citizens in every nook
and cranny of our lives. Too many unlawful searches by over zealous
police looking for illegal drugs, too many private for profit prisons financed
with tax payers money and filled with non violent citizens. Too many
intrusive laws into the private lives of citizens. |
