"US
Gestapo?"
"TACTICS SHOCK MANY BUT PROVE
EFFECTIVE"
No, the above headline is
NOT from a Berlin newspaper
printed in 1939, it's from
the United States the day
after Elian Gonzalez was
abducted in the middle of the
night by INS agents.
Armed federal agents with no
search warrant, smash down
a door in the darkness of
night, point automatic weapons
at a six-year-old boy,
put a blanket over his head,
put him on a helicoptor,
have a strange doctor examine
him, put him on another
plane and fly him 1,500
miles to a military facility
all in the name of protecting
him.
And the American people support
it. We're screwed. To paraphrase
Martin Neimoller:
First they came for the
drug dealers;
I didn't speak up because
I wasn't a drug dealer
Then they came for the drunk
drivers;
I didn't speak up because
I wasn't a drinker
Then they came for the smokers;
I didn't speak up because
I wasn't a smoker
Then they came for those
fleeing communism;
I didn't speak up because
I wasn't fleeing communism
Now they are here for me;
and there is no one left
to speak up.
Velkum to Amerika.
I only hope I get a window seat on
the train to the gulag.

GREEN DAY
Earth Day has come and gone.
Ace journalist Leonardo
DiCaprio interviews President
Klinton and no one
watches it. That's
the good news. Nobel Prize
winning economist Chevy
Chase is interviewed at the
E.D. Festivities [I thought
E.D. was erictile
disfunction. Maybe
these folks can't get it up,
perhaps that's why they
have a penchant for screwing
things up] and says that
free markets are not the
answer to the economic problems
in the developing
countries. Socialism,
according to the man named
after a cheap car, is better
and that we should look
to Cuba as an economic model.
Is he working on
material for his next movie,
"National Lampoon's
Presidential Race"?
Maybe he has his tongue shoved
firmly and deeply in his
cheek. If not, he has his
head firmly and deeply shoved
up his ass.[Tell Chevy I
said this]
"Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to be Chevy Chase."
